Top Stock Movers Oct 9, 2026: WFF, ZYBT, VEEA →About the Most Active Stocks list
Most-active lists are usually ranked by share count, which fills them with sub-$1 tickers that print hundreds of millions of shares worth very little. Ranking by dollar volume fixes that: it shows where capital actually moved. The top of the list is normally the mega-caps and the most-traded leaders of the day, and a name that is not usually there — a mid-cap on earnings, a stock in the news — stands out immediately.
Activity matters because it is what makes a move tradeable. Heavy dollar volume means tight spreads and room to enter and exit; a big percentage move on thin volume is easy to see and hard to trade. Read this list next to the gainers and losers: a stock that appears on both — a large move on unusually heavy volume — is the kind of event that tends to carry into the following sessions.
The list comes from the StockSetups daily scan of the whole US market: common stock priced $1 or more, on consolidated volume, with ETFs, warrants, units, rights and preferreds excluded. It is final for the latest 4:00 p.m. ET close and refreshes after each evening's scan; the premarket, regular-session and after-hours pages cover the live sessions on a 15-minute delay.
Frequently asked
What are the most active stocks today?
The US-listed common stocks with the highest dollar volume — price multiplied by shares traded — at the latest close. This page ranks the top 25 with price, percentage move and share volume, and is final at the 4:00 p.m. ET close.
Why rank by dollar volume instead of share volume?
Share volume favors very cheap stocks: a $0.50 ticker can trade 300 million shares worth $150 million, while a $400 stock trades 20 million shares worth $8 billion. Dollar volume measures the money that changed hands, so it is the better gauge of real activity and liquidity.
Does this list include ETFs?
No. It covers common stock only — ETFs, warrants, units, rights and preferred shares are excluded, as are stocks priced under $1.
