Top Stock Movers Oct 9, 2026: WFF, ZYBT, VEEA →About the Penny Stock Gainers & Losers list
The SEC's working definition of a penny stock is one trading below $5, and that is the cut used here. This is the most volatile corner of the market: floats are small, a single press release can double a price, and the same stock can give it all back the next morning. The list is a map of where that volatility was today, not a list of recommendations.
Liquidity is the first filter that matters with cheap stocks. A gainer or loser only appears here with at least $1 million of dollar volume and 100,000 shares traded on the day, which removes the names that moved on a handful of trades. Even so, check the float, any open shelf registration and recent dilution before trading one — many penny-stock spikes are sold into by the company itself.
This is the closing board from the StockSetups daily scan, refreshed after each evening's scan. Warrants, units, rights and preferreds are excluded. For moves while the market is open, the premarket, regular-session and after-hours pages run on a 15-minute delay.
Frequently asked
What are the top penny stock gainers today?
The US common stocks priced under $5 with the largest percentage gains from the prior close to the latest 4:00 p.m. ET close. This page lists the top 25 gainers and losers with price, percent change and volume, limited to names with at least $1 million of dollar volume.
What counts as a penny stock?
The SEC generally treats a stock trading below $5 a share as a penny stock. This page uses that definition and includes stocks priced from $0.10 up to $5.
Why are penny stocks so volatile?
They usually have small floats and thin liquidity, so modest buying or selling moves the price a long way. They are also more exposed to dilution — many small companies fund themselves by selling new shares into price spikes.
