Indicators

Aroon Indicator

A pair of 0–100 lines measuring how recently price hit its highest high and lowest low — together they gauge trend strength and direction.

Aroon UpAroon Down
Schematic of a aroon indicator — illustrative geometry, not a live price chart.

Developed by Tushar Chande, Aroon Up tracks how many periods since the highest high and Aroon Down since the lowest low, each scaled 0–100. When Aroon Up is high (near 100) and Aroon Down low, an uptrend is dominant; the reverse signals a downtrend. The Aroon Oscillator is simply Up minus Down.

Crossovers of the two lines flag potential trend changes, and readings pinned near 100/0 confirm a strong, established trend. It's a trend tool, not an overbought/oversold one.

On StockSetups

The Aroon Oscillator is a screener field on StockSetups, helping confirm that a breakout is backed by a genuine shift to fresh highs rather than range-bound chop.
