Pennant

A small symmetrical-triangle consolidation after a sharp move, resolving as a continuation in the same direction.

Schematic of a pennant — illustrative geometry, not a live price chart.

A pennant looks like a tiny symmetrical triangle that forms right after a strong, near-vertical move (the pole). Converging trendlines of lower highs and higher lows show a brief, tight pause as the move catches its breath.

The breakout in the direction of the pole is the trigger; the target projects the pole's height from the breakout. A pennant differs from a flag in that its consolidation converges to a point rather than running as a parallel channel.
